Kuwait warns against online H1N1 drug sales

Kuwait's Pharmaceutical Services Office and Poison Centre has warned the public not to buy antiviral drugs to treat swine flu via the internet without a doctor's prescription. By using such drugs, patients may increase the risk of weakening their resistance towards the virus, the Centre's Director Issam Al Baho said. He urged people to ensure an online pharmacy is legitimate before buy medicines, particularly from countries where online sales are not licensed.

How to reduce your risk of contracting swine flu:

Do not travel to areas known to be affected.

Minimize the amount of time spent on public transport especially aeroplanes.

Avoid crowded public places, especially those using recirculated air conditioned air.

Wear a surgical grade face mask and ensure it is fitted correctly so that it covers your nose as well as your mouth. Use only once and throw the used mask properly without spreading the virus.

Refrain from touching your mouth with your hands or fingers if they may have come into contact with surfaces contiminated with the virus.

Carefully wipe any surfaces that may have come into contact with carriers such as door handles, toilet flushers, work surfaces and telephones.

Most importantly, wash hands properly with soap and water as often especially before eating at least 15 sec or more.
